General


  • What is Urban Artisan?

    We are a locally owned and operated studio that provides hands-on workshops, custom graphics, and design, personalized products as well as retail goods. 

  • Do you have a loyalty program?

    Yes! VIP cards are available for pick up. Earn a stamp for every full-priced workshop you attend. After attending 5 classes, you can redeem the card for a free project (up to $65). Only one promo can be applied at a time and cannot be combined with any other promotions or discounts. Loyality cards cannot be redeemed for special events, cookie decorating or cocktail workshops. 

  • Do you sell gift cards?

    Gift cards can be purchased online or in the studio! If you purchase a gift card online, please allow up to 5 business days for processing and shipping. Gift cards cannot be redeemed for cash. Urban Artisan is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged cards. 

  • Fundraising and/or Donations...

    Urban Artisan books one fundraising opportunity per month (January through early September, we do not offer fundraising workshops October-December). Fundraising workshops must meet eligibility criteria, please email to inquire. 


    Urban Artian donates products, gift certificates and/or a combination of both. Due to the large number of requests recieved each month, we will be limiting  these (once the allocated budget has been spent, we will hold requests to the following month). Request early! These go very fast. 


Workshop


  • How long does a workshop take?

    Workshops range from one hour up to three hours, depending on project size and complexity. 

  • What is the average price for a workshop?

    Our workshops vary in price ($50 - $125). Private party, speciality workshops and guests workshops vary in price ($50-250). 

  • I entered the wrong information for my template!

    A $10 recut fee will apply if a new stencil needs cut at the time of the workshop (this will apply to information that was misspelt during check out or missing information). Example: You selected a template with a last name, but did not enter the name at check out. We automatically use the last name on your registration. If this is not what you wanted on your design, a $10 set up/recut fee will apply. 

  • Can I change the wording or other details on a project?

    Modifications or substitutions of single words on standard designs can generally be made with no additional charges or fees (with at least 72 hours’ notice).  Custom requests (that require design time) for standard workshop templates will be charged $10-20 - pending complexity/length of time to create the custom stencil). 

  • Do I get to choose the colors for my design?

    Yes! We have a variety of stain and paint colors to choose from. 

  • Can I bring an item into the studio to add a stencil to?

    Unfortunately, no. We do not allow outside material in the studio due to the risk of damaging private property. We cannot be responsible for the possible need for repair or replacement should an error or mistake take place. 

  • I registered for a workshop and am unable to attend. Can my friend attend in my place?

    Certainly, if your friend is ok making the project you registered/paid for. Adjustments or modifications needing to be made will be subject to the design and stencil recut ($10) fee. New stencils cannot be created at the time of a workshop. 

  • What are your cancellation and late registrant policies?

    Workshop Cancellation Policy (all workshops, unless otherwise noted below): Due to the custom nature of our studio, registration fees are non-refundable.  Registration cancellations made at least 7 days in advance of a workshop will be subject to a $20 transfer fee and granted a class credit for a future workshop (to be used within 30 days).

    Ex: Saturday 6:00 workshop, cancellation would be needed the Saturday before by 6:00 PM (we are sorry for the inconvience, but it is often difficult to fill seats at the last minute). 


    Late Notice Cancellation (all workshops, unless otherwise noted below): Any notice given less than 7 days prior to a workshop is non refundable. Guests can opt to pick up the materials within 3 days (a $10 kit packaging fee will apply).  



    Special Events: Registration fees are non refundable (and will not be provided a workshop credit) Cancellations to a special event workshop will be subject to a $20 packaging fee (materials will be held for 3 days). Please note, we cannot guarantee the freshness of any perishable food items (if applicable) if not picked up the same day. Special event cancellations and no shows will not be moved to a future workshop. No refunds. 


    No Show: Any guest that is a no-show will forfeit the missed session. The custom-created materials will be kept on hand for 7 days to be picked up/take home (a $10 packaging fee will apply).


    Our sole liability in relation to any cancellation, postponement, or change shall be limited to the price paid by you for such workshop and we shall not be liable under any circumstances for any consequential losses.


    Private Party Cancellation Policy: A deposit is due when booking your private party and will go towards your party’s total due balance. Deposits are non refundable. In the event the workshop is cancelled, the deposit will be refunded only if the date/time is rebooked. 


    For private parties, we require all attendees to register and provide complete customization information for their project at least 72 hours in advance so we can prepare the materials for your party.


    Other Cancellation Policies: If for any reason Urban Artisan deems it necessary to cancel or reschedule a workshop due to hazardous weather or other unforeseen circumstances, all registered guests will be notified as early as possible. In the event a workshop is cancelled due to an unforseen event, guests will have the option to transfer to the rescheduled workshop (or attend the same workshop within 90 days), using original materails created. Workshops cancelled that materials have been created for: Guests can opt to pick up the materials (within 3 days). No packaging fee will apply for workshops Urban Artisan elects to cancel). 


    Due to staffing, Urban Artisan reserves the right to cancel any event with less than 6 registered guests. Registered guests will be offered an alternate date or full refund. If you are offered a credit, vouchers expire 30 days after issue date. 


    Late registration requests are reviewed on an individual basis and dependent on time constraints, available staff to prepare materials, and seat availability. 


  • Do you offer private parties?

    Yes! Private parties can be booked (which allows the use of the entire studio) and we also allow private table bookings for open studio events. 


    Private Party Terms & Conditions:


    A 20% deposit (this is based on the expected head count) is required to reserve the date/time. The deposit comes off the total of your private group. Deposits are non refundable. 


    The total is due 72 hours prior to the workshop date. If you prefer to bring a check, the balance is due upon arrival. If payment is not received  within 7 days of the workshop any overdue and unpaid balances will be charged interest at 1.5% per month, charged daily until the balance is paid in full. Failure to pay within 90 days will result in interest plus a $150 open invoice and accounting fee. 


    Guest registration policy: We require all attendees to register and provide complete customization information for their project at least 72 hours in advance so we can prepare the materials for your party. Any guest not registered for a private event before 72 hours will result in a $20 late/rush fee upon registration. 


    Private group registration is the same price as our public workshops, this includes kids parties. During kids parties, a responsible adult is required to attend. 

  • Cocktail workshop policies

    If you cannot make a scheduled cocktail workshop, you can pick up the materials (less the liquor) to take home (materials are held for 3 days - please note that we cannot guarantee the freshness of any perishable food items if not picked up the same day). 


    Guests attending a cocktail workshop must have valid ID present or you will not be allowed to particiapte :( 


    Cocktail workshops have one liquor option (substitutions are not possible as this is the only spirit on hand for the evening). 

  • Hat Burning Workshop Policies

    Due to the nature of this workshop and our liability policy, all guests must be 16+ and registered (we do not allow unregistered guests to attend).


    Late cancellation/no show policy is listed above. 

  • How many guests are needed to book a private event?

    Private party minimums vary by day and time. 

    Monday thorugh Thursday, private parties can be booked for 6+ people. Friday and Saturday eveings require 16+ guests. Saturday and Sunday afternoons require 10+ guests. 

    Kid birthday parties can be booked Mon-Thursday evenings or Saturday/Sunday afternoons. 

  • Can I sit with my friends during a workshop?

    Of course! Upon checkout, please enter the name/s of who you would like to be seated with. We do our best to accommodate guest requests but on occasion due to space constraints, not all requested parties can be seated together. 

  • Do I have to come with a group?

    Absolutely not! Our DIY Artisan Sign Workshops and Guest Workshops are perfect for individual or small groups (not large enough to book a private event). 


  • Can we bring food and drinks?

    Yes! You’re welcome to bring any snacks or non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy during class (don’t forget to bring disposable silverware, cups, napkins, and plates)! If you are of legal age, Urban Artisan is a licensed establishment. Beverages are available for purchase in the studio. 


  • Do I need to be crafty?

    No way! Workshops are instructor-led and designed for all skill levels (or lack of, lol). 

  • Will I get messy?

    A little! We provide aprons and disposable gloves to help protect you and your clothing. We do recommend that you wear clothing that can get dirty (or possibly stained). Stain, paint, and other materials will be used that can damage or stain clothing. 

    Urban Artisan does not compensate or replace personal items worn in the studio that get damaged (see terms and conditions upon checkout). 


  • Is there an age requirement to attend a workshop?

    Yes… and no. We allow guests of all ages in the studio. However, drills, nail guns, hammers, nails, paint, and stain and sealers are used during open studio and private party workshops. Therefore, infants and children under the age of 16 need prior approval to be in the studio during a workshop. 


    Cocktail workshops: All guests must be 21+ to attend. No infants, children or youth will be allowed to accompany an adult during these workshops (I am sorry). Valid ID is required (if you do not have one present at the time of the event, you will not be allowed to attend - and will forefit the registration).
